Our take
I picked up this 8lb hex dumbbell for home workouts. The rubber coating feels durable and the chrome handle has a nice non-slip grip. I appreciate that it comes with star-lock collars — they keep the plates secure during exercises. The weight is good for curls and shoulder raises. One downside: the included plates only bring it to 2 pounds, so you'll need additional standard plates to reach the full 8lb. Also, the dumbbell is a bit short at 5.5 inches overall. But for the price, it's a solid basic option.
