Our take
I grabbed this Olympic dumbbell bar set to build a custom pair of heavy dumbbells, and it's a solid foundation. The 16-inch handles are well-made with smooth rotating sleeves, which makes wrist-friendly pressing movements possible. The 100 lb weight limit per handle is sufficient for most intermediate lifters. The included storage tree is a nice bonus, keeping my plates organized. My only issue is that the chrome finish on the handles started showing minor rust spots after a few months, despite wiping them down. The spring collars that come with it are functional but not the tightest—I'd recommend upgrading to lockjaw collars for heavy loads. Overall, a good value for building adjustable dumbbells at home.
